SMS-ticketing expanded on the whole Flanders Region
De Lijn passengers on the whole Flanders Region are now able to order their tickets via mobile phone, when SMS-ticketing service was expanded on February 1st, 2010. De Lijn is the first public transport company in continental Europe who offered their passengers the convenience of this time and place free option.
A customer survey was carried out after a test period before public launch on September 6th, 2007. The results presented a huge success for the service, as 91% of the test users were satisfied or very satisfied with the service and a vast majority of the users would recommend the service to their friends.
SMS-ticketing cooperation has started initially only with telecom operator Proximus, but negotiations are ongoing with other major Belgian operators with intention of including as many of them to the service as possible.
