The responsibility for a well-functioning public transport system in the Stockholm Region lies on Storstockholms Lokaltrafik AB. It is the duty of Stockholm Transport to develop and find new solutions for the public transport systems. In addition, Stockholm Transport controls the contractors' execution of the public transport, and makes sure that they follow the agreements.

The mobile ticketing service opened in Stockholm, in cooperation with Stockholm City Transport on 29th of January 2007. It has over 600,000 travelers every day in traffic modes consisting of metro, bus, light rail and commuter ail networks.

  • On April 1, 2007 the ticketing system was changed to consist of three different zones
  • In June 2007 300.000 tickets per month sales level reached

  • In January 2008 alone, less than a full year from launch, over 500.000 mobile tickets were sold

 

Västtrafik AB is a public transport company in Western Sweden, responsible for public transport services involving buses, trams, ferries and trains in the County of Västra Götaland. Västtrafik is Sweden's second-largest public transport company, having over 750,000 travellers every day in traffic modes consisting of mainly bus, tram, ferry, and rail networks.

  • Pre-pilot study delivered May, 2006
  • Pilot implementation started Sep, 2006, localization within 5-6 weeks
  • Launch schedule: Borås city Nov 13, 2006, with expansion to Gothenburg city on the following week, after which service has been launched in roughly 25 communities to some interconnecting and ferry traffic lines and various event and supplementary tickets
  • The sales goal was to reach 7-8% share of singles by the end of first year; after 8 weeks mobile ticket sales gained already 8.8% market share of single ticket sales, 20% by May 2007 and within a year from launch up to 57%.

 

The responsibility of well-functioning public transport system in the Västmanland, Örebro and Sörmland counties lies on Länstrafiken Mälardalen AB. The company is owned by three regional traffic companies, Länstrafiken Sörmland AB, Länstrafiken Örebro AB and Västmanlands Lokaltrafik AB.

  • Pilot implementation Jul-Oct 2006
  • Örebro city, service launched on Oct 16, 2006, expansions to Västerås and Eskilstuna cities gradually by end of 2006 and further to 10 other communities and interconnecting lines

 

 

Upplands Lokaltrafik AB is a public transport company in Sweden, responsible for public transport services involving buses and trains in the County of Uppland.

  • Pre-pilot study delivered March, 2007
  • Pilot implementation started April, 2007; localization took only 5-6 weeks
  • Launch schedule: Uppsala city June 4, 2007, later followed by expansion to zone based regional traffic and e.g. temporary discount schemes
  • Already in October 2007 over 30% of the singles were mobile tickets

 

 

X-Trafik is responsible for public transport within the county of Gävleborg in Sweden.

  • On Aug 6, 2007 service launched in Gävle with X-Trafik AB in cooperation with Upplands Lokaltrafik AB
  • On Apr 7, 2009 the service was separated from the service of Upplands Lokaltrafik AB and town of Hudiksvall joined the service
  • Later on three other communities have joined the service and in 2010 also regional tickets came along; tickets are searched and ordered using a travel planner application, while they are paid and delivered by SMS

 

Östgötatrafiken AB is a public transport company responsible for public transport services involving buses, trams and trains in the County of Östgötaland. Over 70,000 trips are made daily.

  • Pre-pilot study delivered March, 2007
  • Pilot implementation started April, 2007; localization took only 5-6 weeks
  • Launch schedule: Linköping, Norrköping and Motala cities on June 6, 2007, expanded later to 3 other communities and e.g. tourist tickets

  

Hallandstrafiken AB is the organisation responsible for public transport in the county of Halland, arranging yearly approx. 11 million journeys within the county, and this makes HLT Halland’s largest organiser of public transport.

  • Pilot implementation started in the end of January 2009
  • Launch schedule: Halmstad, Falkenberg and Varberg cities on March 4th, 2009,
  • In 2010 also regional tickets came along; tickets are searched and ordered using a travel planner application, while they are paid and delivered by SMS

 


Skånetrafiken is a public transport organisation in Sweden, responsible for public transport services involving buses, trains and service lines in the County of Skåne.

  • Launch schedule: Eslöv, Helsingborg, Hässleholm, Kristianstad, Landskrona, Lund, Malmö, Trelleborg, Ystad and Ängleholm on April 4th, 2011.

 Back
